Announcing Our 2024 Hear for the Holidays Winners!

02/24/2025 | Hear for the Holidays, Patient Resources

I’m delighted to share the winners of our annual Hear for the Holidays campaign.

If you aren’t aware, each holiday season we offer up complimentary hearing care to a handful of deserving winners across our different clinics, including a free hearing test and GN ReSound Nexia 9 hearing aids, kindly gifted to us by ReSound for this competition.

And as always, our winners get a bag of cookies from our friends at Black Tie Cookies!

It was so difficult to narrow down our winners to just four wonderful people – we received some amazing nominations! Reading your heartfelt stories about the people in our community made us proud to be your hearing healthcare providers.

Our Centerville Winner Is Bruce!

Nominated by a very dedicated daughter (whose attempt at a white lie about her car being broken down to help get her dad to the clinic worked for a little while!), our Centerville winner is Bruce.

His nomination told us all about a man who is always willing to help, sometimes without even being asked to. While he recently purchased hearing aids, they weren’t quite right, and he’s been missing out on many big family events and conversations as a result.

Bruce is also a pastor and a loving grandfather, and his daughter knew that he was the one who deserved to hear his family and the world around him again.

While it took a bit of plotting and scheming to get him into the office, Bruce was so touched that his daughter nominated him, and we’re happy to say he’s doing really well with his new devices.

The Falmouth Winner Is Marge!

Nominated by her dear friend Muriel, Marge is our very deserving winner in Falmouth. She was very surprised to find that she had won but figured out Muriel was the culprit immediately!

Muriel’s nomination told us about her admiration of Marge and how she has seen her generosity constantly throughout their 20 years of friendship. She was a schoolteacher for over 35 years, and after dealing with health problems that took away some of her independence, Muriel wanted to give back some of that active lifestyle to her best friend.

Muriel wears hearing aids herself, and Marge commented that while she couldn’t access the more premium options, she’d have to make do with what she had – not for much longer!

Marge was very excited to find out she had won, and Muriel was so pleased to see her nomination help her dear friend win the gift of better hearing.

Gerrie Wins in Fall River!

Nominated by her granddaughter, Nana Gerrie is our 2024 Fall River winner.

Her nomination told us about an incredibly kind woman who helped raise her grandkids while also working full time and taking care of her home. When her parents became ill, Gerrie stopped working to take care of them while also keeping up with her various other family members, putting others’ needs before her own.

Gerrie was told years prior that hearing aids weren’t covered by her insurance, and she has spent many years being unable to hear the people that care about her so much.

“You couldn’t find a soul in this world who has one bad word to say about this godsend of a lady,” Gerrie’s granddaughter told us in her nomination – and we’d have to agree!

Gerrie was so surprised and delighted to find out that she had won our annual competition in Fall River, and it was heartwarming to see this family come back together with the power of clear hearing once more.

Our Dartmouth Winner Is… Tessa!

Tessa’s mom kindly nominated her daughter for our 2024 Dartmouth winner, and while she was a little dubious at first about the competition, when she found out she was our winner there were happy tears all around (including from Tessa’s mom!).

Tessa was born with vascular Ehlers-Danlos, which is a life-threatening and life-shortening syndrome that majorly affects many parts of her body. She’s only 27 years old and has begun losing her hearing, which is why her mom nominated her for Hear for the Holidays this year.

We’re so glad we had the chance to help this family, and Tessa’s doing so well with her hearing aids… even if she had to share her box of cookies with her mom.

Thank You for Your Nominations!
