Starkey 3 Series: Is It Time to Upgrade Your Hearing?

Starkey 3 Series: The Groundbreaking Hearing Aid of 2010

In 2010, the world saw significant changes. Barack Obama was in his second year as President, the Deepwater Horizon oil spill devastated the Gulf of Mexico, and sadly, we said goodbye to music legend Michael Jackson. Amidst these events, Starkey Hearing Technologies introduced the 3 Series, a hearing aid that would make waves in the industry.

Today, while the Starkey 3 Series is no longer in production, many individuals still rely on these devices for their daily hearing needs. However, it's important to recognize that hearing aid technology has advanced significantly since 2010.

What Was Special About the Starkey 3 Series?

The Starkey 3 Series was designed to enhance hearing experiences across various environments. Its standout feature, Voice iQ2 technology, utilized advanced signal processing to improve speech recognition in noisy settings. This allowed users to clearly hear conversations in bustling restaurants or lively family gatherings. While groundbreaking at the time, today's hearing aids offer even more sophisticated noise reduction capabilities, providing clearer sound in challenging environments.

Comfort and style were key considerations in the 3 Series design. Available in behind-the-ear (BTE), receiver-in-canal (RIC), and in-the-ear (ITE) models, users could choose a style that suited their preferences and needs. The sleek and discreet design, offered in various colors, ensured wearers felt confident and comfortable.

The 3 Series tackled the common issue of feedback with Starkey's feedback eliminator technology, reducing annoying whistling sounds. This feature allowed users to focus on clear, crisp sound without distractions. However, modern hearing aids have further refined this technology, virtually eliminating feedback in most situations.

One of the most exciting aspects of the 3 Series was its compatibility with Starkey's SurfLink accessories. The SurfLink Media streamer enabled users to stream audio directly from their TV or stereo to their hearing aids. Additionally, the SurfLink Mobile phone app allowed for discreet volume and setting adjustments, as well as direct streaming of phone calls and music.

For those who frequented public spaces like theaters, churches, or airports, the 3 Series included a built-in telecoil. This feature connected users to hearing loop systems in public places, ensuring they never missed important information or performances.

Are You a Starkey 3 Series Wearer?

If you're still using the Starkey 3 Series, it's worth noting that these devices are now over a decade old. With hearing aids typically lasting 4-7 years, your current devices may be facing challenges in meeting your hearing needs. Technology has advanced significantly since 2010, offering improved sound quality, enhanced noise reduction, and more seamless connectivity options.
