6 Reasons Our Patients Choose Us

1. An Educated Patient Is a Satisfied Patient

Our team at Duncan Hearing Healthcare believes in educating our patients. The more clearly you are able to understand your condition, the more comfortable you are with identifying and utilizing the best treatment options to match your hearing goals and objectives. We focus on providing you with enough information to be confident with your care, while increasing your level of confidence to get the most out of the treatment options you help choose. We have found this level of personal control over hearing care produces a high level of satisfaction in our patients.

2. Our Experience Inspires Confidence

With 40 years of combined experience, our team of practitioners has the knowledge and expertise to meet or exceed your expectations when it comes to hearing healthcare. Collaborating our years of practice helps assure our patients that we will provide the best possible solution for their unique condition and circumstances. We work tirelessly to ensure that our patients have the very best possible care. This level of concern for our patients has inspired confidence, making our patients loyal members of the Duncan Hearing Healthcare family.

3. Comprehensive Hearing Care Starts with Comprehensive Testing

An adequate evaluation of your condition is a critical element in establishing the treatment plan that provides you the highest level of care. Our comprehensive evaluation goes beyond playing different sounds at different volumes and asking you whether you can hear them. Duncan Hearing Healthcare’s comprehensive hearing testing focuses on gathering information about your family history, medical history, injuries, lifestyle, and other factors to produce a broader picture of your overall condition. Information we gather allows us to customize a hearing rehabilitation program designed to improve hearing volume, hearing clarity, and even enhance your cognitive abilities as well as take measures to prevent additional damage to your hearing. This level of comprehensive care is only possible when it follows comprehensive testing.

4. Optimized Hearing Requires State-of-the-Art Technology

Just like with cell phones, state-of-the-art digital hearing aid technology has produced some incredible advantages over older analogue instruments, providing patients with an opportunity to optimize their hearing in ways that were not possible a decade ago. Some of the main digital advantages reported by ASHA (American Speech-Language-Hearing Association) Wire include:

  • Gain Processing (increased audibility w/o discomfort)
  • Digital Feedback Reduction (DFR) (monitors, reduces, or eliminates feedback)
  • Digital Noise Reduction (DNR) (reduces annoyance and improves speech recognition)
  • Digital Speech Enhancement (DSE) (improves speech clarity)
  • Directional Microphones and DSP (improves effective signal-to-noise ratio)
  • Digital Hearing Aids as Signal Generators (capacity to generate sound, i.e. for tinnitus masking)
  • Connectivity (adjustments from smartphone, connect phone calls into your hearing aid using Bluetooth, etc.)

Duncan Hearing Healthcare stays up to date with the most innovative technology available in hearing aids, allowing our patients all the benefits of advanced options in order to optimize their hearing experience.

5. Precise Fitting and Programming to Guarantee Long-term Satisfaction

When you buy a new pair of shoes, you don’t walk out of the store until you are satisfied that they are the right fit. Fitting your hearing aid requires a level of precision similar to buying a pair of shoes, but on a more critical level. A hearing aid fitting begins with choosing an instrument suited to your lifestyle and personal preferences. Precision molding is a crucial element in comfort, eliminating rubbing, aching, and soreness issues.

Fitting also includes programming the unit to produce the most benefit for your unique hearing needs as well as the use of speech mapping to verify a proper fitting. Educating you on how the unit functions, cleaning, maintenance and care tips, answering your questions, and scheduling follow-up appointments to continue making adjustments are also an integral part of a precise fitting. The extra care and precision of a Duncan Hearing Healthcare hearing aid fitting is designed to guarantee long-term satisfaction with your hearing aid.

6. Exceptional Follow-Up Care Establishes Trust

Duncan Hearing Healthcare is not a hearing aid dispenser focused on selling assisted listening devices. The commitment of our team members is to the overall hearing health of each patient. As evidence of our commitment, we focus on providing exceptional follow-up care designed to evaluate your response to treatment, make adjustments, provide continuing education, and ensure that our course of treatment is meeting the unique needs of every patient.

We view our patients as members of our hearing care family with a true concern not only for your hearing health, but also for your overall wellbeing. This level of follow-up care has established us as trusted hearing healthcare leaders in the Fall River, Hyannis, and Dartmouth, MA areas.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Who Will I Meet When I Walk Through The Door?
As soon as you walk through the door, you will be greeted by our smiley Patient Care Coordinator, Nancy Stevenson. She will be waiting for you at the front desk which is located in the waiting room as you walk in.
Q: What Happens Between Me Arriving And Then Going Into A Private Room With The Provider?
For now, we are still remaining cautious in regard to COVID-19 regulations. Nancy S will be asking patients the covid screening questions and taking temperatures upon arrival. Alongside this, Nancy will make copies of necessary items such as photo identification and insurance cards, have you sign HIPAA (privacy act), and ensure that you have all the necessary supporting paperwork/documents ready. If you have been tested elsewhere in the last 12 months, Nancy will gather your documents and make sure that we have a copy of your audiogram. She will also make sure that if you didn’t complete the intake questionnaire that you will fill it out whilst you in the waiting room ahead of your appointment. Once all documents and paperwork are prepared and completed, Nancy S will bring you to the exam room.
Q: Is There Anything I Need To Do/Prepare Prior To My Appointment?
While there isn’t too much preparation involved on your side, please bring your online or paper intake questionnaire fully completed prior to your appointment. As well as this, we need a copy of your valid photo identification and your insurance cards. We kindly ask that you arrive 10-15 minutes prior to the appointment time in order to sign HIPAA and have supporting documents prepared for the appointment. If you have had a hearing evaluation anywhere else in the last year, it is helpful if we receive a copy of the audiogram prior to your appointment.
Q: Can I Bring A Loved One Or Friend?
Yes, we encourage you to bring someone with you, if possible. It is helpful to have a familiar individual with you as part of our testing and evaluation process.
Q: How Long Will My First Appointment Take?
While there is no set time, your appointment is generally scheduled for either 30, 45, or 60 minutes, depending on if you’ve already had a hearing test done elsewhere within the last 12 months or not.
Q: What Should I Do If I Need To Reschedule?
While we understand that sometimes life gets in the way, please call and speak with one of our Patient Care Coordinators at least 24 hours prior to your appointment or contact us through our website at least 24 hours prior to the appointment.
