Starkey Livio AI: Is It Time for an Upgrade in 2023?

02/01/2022 | Hearing Aids

In 2018, the world witnessed significant events that shaped our global landscape. The United States imposed tariffs on China, igniting a trade war. Sadly, we lost influential figures like Stephen Hawking and Anthony Bourdain. On a brighter note, the world celebrated as Thailand successfully rescued 12 boys and their coach from a flooded cave.

Amidst these global happenings, Starkey introduced the Livio AI, a groundbreaking hearing aid that revolutionized the industry. Although no longer the latest model, many still use and appreciate this innovative device.

What Was Special About the Starkey Livio AI?

The Livio AI wasn’t just another hearing aid; it was a game-changer. For the first time, we saw a hearing device that incorporated integrated sensors and artificial intelligence. This multi-purpose functionality made it an invaluable tool for many patients looking to improve their overall quality of life.

One of the standout features was its ability to adapt to different environments. With Starkey’s Thrive Hearing Control app, users could adjust volume, change settings, and create customized memories for specific listening situations. While this was cutting-edge in 2018, newer models now offer even more seamless and intuitive environmental adaptations.

The Livio AI addressed challenging listening environments with its edge-mode processing, providing clearer speech understanding in noisy settings. This feature helped patients stay connected and engaged in social situations. However, today’s advanced models have further refined this technology, offering even better noise reduction and speech clarity.

Durability was a key consideration, with Starkey’s Surface™ NanoShield technology ensuring the hearing aid was resistant to water, wax, and moisture. This gave patients peace of mind, knowing their investment was protected against everyday wear and tear.

Another appreciated feature was the telehealth capability, allowing for remote adjustments by hearing professionals. While innovative at the time, this feature has become standard in many current models, with enhanced connectivity and more sophisticated remote programming options.
