And Our Fall River Winner Is… Hear For The Holidays Giveaway

02/16/2022 | Local News, Patient Resources, Patient Stories

Not long ago, we announced our competition, Hear for the Holidays, which gave one special person the opportunity to win a gift of a lifetime.

It gave local people in Fall River, Hyannis, and Dartmouth the opportunity to win a free pair of hearing aids, as well as access to our expert audiological care.

Our decisions were based on the thoughtful nominations sent in by you, which were open throughout the month of November.

After much anticipation, we are finally excited to announce the winner to all.

Without further ado, the winner of the 2021 Hear for the Holidays giveaway is Joseph Correia.

The winner, Joseph Correia:

The Winner, Joseph Correia:

Joseph has been a Fall River resident for many years and has worked his whole life to raise three children.

Unfortunately, his hearing loss has meant that he hasn’t heard the birds outside for years, and he often leaves the TV volume off, relying only on captions.

The past few couple years have been especially tough, as his wife sadly passed away two years ago.

After his daily visit to the cemetery, he recently took a fall, which has meant he now needs in-home care and frequent visits to South Coast Wound Care for help and recovery.

Joseph’s son, Jay, was the one who nominated him. He wanted to give his dad a Christmas miracle in time for the holidays.

Jay said, “He is a true gentleman, and if anyone deserves this gift, it’s my dad. My mom would always say, ‘Joe, get your ears checked.’ But he was too afraid.

“Dad is a great man, and I would love him to be able to hear me say, ‘I love you, Dad,’ without straining.”

Not only was Joseph Correia awarded with a new set of devices and a whole year of care with Duncan Hearing Healthcare, but he was also gifted a box of Black Tie gourmet cookies.

Our Hear for the Holidays giveaway is one way that we hope to make a huge difference to someone’s life during the holidays.

We are so excited for Joseph and can’t wait for his new life to blossom.

Do you know somebody that needs to see this? Why not share it?
