At Duncan Hearing Healthcare, we witness the incredible differences that hearing aids make to our patient’s lives. To watch their faces light up when they rediscover the sounds they have long missed out on is genuinely heartwarming.
However, their journey doesn’t end there.
Hearing aids bridge the gap of connection and communication with loved ones, so the least we can do is show them some TLC!
To ensure your devices continue to bring music to your ears, it’s essential to practice regular maintenance and cleaning to keep them performing at their best.
Why Hearing Aids Must Be Cleaned
Because hearing aids are a wearable form of technology, things such as wax, debris, and moisture will most likely build up naturally over time.
It is also possible for a patient’s overall hearing ability to change over time for many reasons like age, lifestyle changes, or medication.
However, without an evaluation by a trained audiologist, it’s hard to pin-point whether it’s their hearing ability or their device that has suffered a blow.
Some tools and basic instructions make for an excellent home maintenance check-list, and we encourage hearing aid wearers to develop a habit of regularly practicing these with their devices.
A more in-depth analysis of your device is needed to ensure your device’s settings still suit your hearing needs, however, which is where we come in.
What is a Hearing Aid Clean & Check, and How much Does it Cost?
At Duncan Hearing Healthcare, we offer a hearing aid clean & check service to all hearing aid wearers across Massachusetts, regardless of whether you’re an existing patient of ours or not.
During a routine clean & check, we will perform an otoscopy to make sure your ears are clear and thoroughly disinfect your hearing aids. Along with this, we will suction any debris from the microphones and receivers on your hearing aid(s) and change the filters and earbuds.
If there is any wax in your ears, we will provide you with the option to have us remove it using a variety of techniques (there is an additional charge for cerumen management).
For non-patients, this service will only cost $62.50 out of pocket. We are also able to provide this service for all types of hearing aids.
